Patton pose!

If you haven’t checked out Kevin Sullivan’s blog, you should. It’s packed with great photos like this one – Marc Esposito and Kevin, wearing old Army helmets in front of a restored 1950s era Jeep. (Canton, IL – July 3)

Welcome to Bloomington!

As an employee of State Farm, I want to welcome the riders to Bloomington, Illinois, our hometown. It was great riding through town with them, and the support from the community was great! Read this article from The Pantagraph about their 4th of July arrival, photos below, and here’s a video I put together from today’s event:

Media Blitz

Sea to Shining Sea attracted some serious media interest over the last week. Twelve stories, which you can see by scrolling to the bottom of the home page, including:

1,000 miles down, 3,000 to go!

Yesterday, Van Brinson sent us this photo of the team at the end of their 1,000th mile, somewhere in Utah. Distance-wise, they’re one quarter of the way to Virginia Beach. (Check out the rest of Van’s photos, or the rest of the World T.E.A.M. Sports Flickr photos.)

Photos! Finally!

I know it took me way too long, but I finally found the time to get some photos from the ride online. Some of our riders, like Van Brinson, are way faster than me at getting photos up, so check out his awesome collection here.

I’ll continue to upload photos to the World Team Sports Flickr page, and below is a slideshow of photos from the first week of the ride (credit goes to our film crew on the road for these):

Day 5 & 6: Kirkwood to South Lake Tahoe, CA / Rest Day

UPDATE: Due to snow on the ground in Kirkwood, the riders were forced to bypass today’s route. They’re in South Lake Tahoe now, and will depart Friday, May 28.

The 33-mile route for Wednesday, May 26 is as follows:

A star-studded start to S2SS!

Last night Kevin Sullivan posted this image on his blog. That’s Robin Williams out to dinner with our riders before they started their ride! Then, this morning, the AP shot a few photos of Robin joining our riders during Day 1.

Wheel Dipping Video/Photos

Yesterday, prior to the start of the Sea to Shining Sea bike ride, the riders checked one ocean off their list, before beginning their journey to the next. In an afternoon ride to San Francisco Bay, shown in the video below, they dipped their rear tires into the Pacific waters. In two months, their front tires will touch the Atlantic.
