As an employee of State Farm, I want to welcome the riders to Bloomington, Illinois, our hometown. It was great riding through town with them, and the support from the community was great! Yesterday, Van Brinson sent us this photo of the team at the end of their 1,000th mile, somewhere in Utah. Distance-wise, they’re one quarter of the way to Virginia Beach. (Check out the rest of Van’s photos, or the rest of the World T.E.A.M. Sports Flickr photos.)

I know it took me way too long, but I finally found the time to get some photos from the ride online. Some of our riders, like Van Brinson, are way faster than me at getting photos up, so check out his awesome collection here.

UPDATE: Due to snow on the ground in Kirkwood, the riders were forced to bypass today’s route. They’re in South Lake Tahoe now, and will depart Friday, May 28.

Last night Kevin Sullivan posted this image on his blog. That’s Robin Williams out to dinner with our riders before they started their ride! Then, this morning, the AP shot a few photos of Robin joining our riders during Day 1.

Yesterday, prior to the start of the Sea to Shining Sea bike ride, the riders checked one ocean off their list, before beginning their journey to the next. In an afternoon ride to San Francisco Bay, shown in the video below, they dipped their rear tires into the Pacific waters. In two months, their front tires will touch the Atlantic.
